Week 1

Week 1 Reflection

Written by: Mariah Saxton

As I was reading through the materials for this week and watching the different videos there were a few things that stood out to me. I really loved the video by Guy Kawaski. He mentioned that you should not start a business because you think it will make you the most money or because it is the biggest trend. He mentioned that you should do what you love. You have higher chances making money by doing something you love. You still might not make any money but at the same time, you are doing something you love and care about.

When I was watching President Hinkley's video he mentions that "we cannot afford to betray ourselves in anyway". I really love how he said that. I start thinking about all of the different businesses that I have tried. The amount of time that I have wasted in business "plans" that I have tried because I was convinced that they would be easy and I would be able to make good money and achieve my dream of being a stay at home Mom. However, with all that being said, I have failed with every single one of those businesses.

With the amount of statements that stood out to me during the week, these were two that stood out and I'm hoping I can keep them handy in order to remember them.

1.    Do something you firmly believe in and love doing.
2.    If you are doing something you love, you will succeed no matter what. Just do not base your success           off of the amount of money that you either make or don't make.
3.    Do not betray myself.

I truly hope that I can learn more and take more out of the lessons that come within the next weeks. I'm excited to see how I can implement my dreams, goals, and passions. I feel it in my soul and bones that I am meant for something great and that my goals can come true, it is just a matter of figuring out how I can make things happen and work.
