Week 3

This week’s learning articles and videos were awesome to read and watch! Honesty in the workplace is so important but how important is it for everyone that is in the workplace? For example, in my line of work we have a duty that we need to be honest in our dealings and be ethical in decisions. However, I feel like the higher you are up in the business, the less that ethics and honesty are followed and pursued.

Which does not help with my faith in some business practices that we depend on. I love in the “Launching Leaders: An Empowering Journey for a New Generation” book written by Steven A. Hitz, how he stated that some people have two faces as they work. They have a face for the workplace and a face for their day to day living. It made me ponder and think more about how I act at work versus how I am with friends, family members, at church, etc. The more I thought about what was stated in the book the more I found myself rethinking how I go about my day.

I like to value myself as an honest individual who is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. However, how often have I stringed my core values with my career. How much further along could I be within my career if I did tie them together instead of have them separate. I want to make it my goal to be able to tie both my personal life, spiritual life, and career life into one. Having them play hand in hand and not bending one way over the other. As I have learned in different church meetings, you can not walk the straight and narrow if you are straddling two different side lines.
